TURF TALK.

The members of tho Melbourne Hunt Club arc already making efforts to provide for a grand National Steeplechase, to be run at the 1876 meeting of tlib club, and it is proposed that the added money shall be 500 soys., with a sweepstakes of 20 soys. each. At the Darling Downs races, Nemo, by New Warrior, from Mermaid, won the principal race, the Toowomba Handicap, the winner carrying Bst 121b, Mayflower, 6st 31b, being second, and Eugenic, 7st lOlbs, third. Little Dick, 7st 71b, and Carbine, Bst olb, also started. This being the dullest time in the whole racing year, it is almost useless to say there is little or nothing to make Turt Talk out of ; and so it is to be hoped our readers are not in an exacting frame of mind. Until the new season opens on the 2nd of August, dulneas in all things racing will be the ruling power ; and so we hope our stud master*! friends will set to work announcing their sires for the season, bo that we may amuse ourselves with writing their horses up, and setting their merits properly before the horsebreeding public— a duty we are alwayß willing to perform on very small provocation. There will be a fipe list of sires in the field this coming season ; and their owners cannot be too early in stating their terms, so that owners of mares may make up their minds, and be able to take advantage of the earliest part of the season ; for to have early foals is an immense advantage, and when practicable, the opportunity should never be lost sight of.
