CAVERSHAM ROAD BOARD.

The regular meeting of the Caveraham Koad Board wag held in the school house on Ihuraday evening. Present :— Mr Rutherr?f£ ( m * tte chair), Messrs Oarey, Brady, U Ren, Bridgaau, Langmuir, VViJaou, Jackeon, and M'Kay. The minutes ot-mpvious meeting were read and confirmed. Jtht Heturning Officers appointed to hold toe annual elections reported— That Mr Rutherford had been elected for St Andrew's Ward, higher sub-division j Mr Bridgman for Low Ward Middle sub-division ; and, Mr Brady for St Kilda Ward, lower subdivision. Messrs Bridgman, Carey, aud U'Ren, were appointed to confer with the owners of land along Hillside Road, with a view to having the road widened. A deputa ion, consisting of the Chairman, and Mr Bndgman, Carey, and U'Ren, was appointed to wait upon the Superintendent and ask him to defer consideration of declaring part of the district into a municipality uutiJ the ratepayers had an opportunity of meeting and expressing their views upon the matter. A numerously signed petition was presented by Mr Langmuir, praying the Board to appoint a deputation to wait upon the Superintendent, and urge the formation of a foothpath along the Main South Road from Dunedia to Caver sham. The Chairman, Messrs BridgmanLangmuir, and Wilson, were appointed to wait upon his Honour in accordance with the prayer of the petition. Memorials were read from the inhabitants of Alexandra street, drawingthe attention of the Board to the existence of pools of water in that neighbourhood. It was resolved to put in a culvert to abate the nuisance complained of. Mr Carey handed to the Treasurer a sum of £4 3s 6d, being a subscription raised at a meeting held in the Ocean Bay View Hotel, to assist in defraying expenses in removing or abating the nuisance of the City Manure Depot. The money » was afterwards returned to Mr Carey to be used by him at his discretion in furtherance of the object for which it was collected. Mr* Carey*also paid in £2 13s further subsctiptions for footpath on St. Kilda Road. It was agreed to make surface drains in Maria street, Porbury, by day labour, and to pat 100 yards of rotten rock on St. Kilda Road, Mr Meade to provide the rock at 4s 2d per yard. The Clerk was instructed to take legal proceedings for the collection of all outstanding rates. The expenditure for next year was estimated as follows :— Higher Sub-division, £400 ; Middle Sub-division, £400 ; Lower Sub-division, £800 ; aud a resolution was passed to levy a rate of one shilling per £ over the whole district. A number of accounts were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned till Thursday, the 22nd inst.
