Melbourne, May 29th. The business of the Parliamentary session has scarcely commenced, but a Mining .oa Private Property Bill was introduced, and a motion for the reduction of inland postage Was discussed and withdrawn. The Treasurer stated the present loss on inland postage was £100,000. The Government intend submitting resolutions relative to the annexation of New Guinea by the Imperial Government. It is probable an expedition will proceed from Melbourne shortly. An outbreak of typhoid fever has occurred at Kew, several deaths have taken place. Mr Thomas M'Kellar having resigned his neat in the Council, Mr Samuel Wilson, of Ercildown, is a candidate. A quack doctor named Bolherill his been fined £10 for practising without qualifications. Business is dull. Breadstuff's are un"\changed. Henn^ssy's brandy is advancing. ' . Sydney, May 29fch. The steamer New. England went ashore yesterday at the Clarence Head a. Tenders for the Californiau Mail Service are invited up to the lObh of June. The defective railway iron imported is causing great loss to the Colony. Proceedings will probably be taken against the contractors in England. Arrived.— Glimpse, from Auckland, at Newcastle. Adelaide, May 30th. Lurline won the Queen's Hundred easily. The Ho Confidence motion resulted in the defeat of the Government laßt night by a majority of four. Latest accounts from tho Palmer are very good. The whites and Chinese doing well. In some cases the Chinese are making from half an ounce to 1 ounce per day from ground left by the whites. The steamer Killarney arrived from Hong Kong with 500 Chinese. Others are announced.
