The promoters consider the interests in 'this district in which small capitalists can invest are very few, and are satisfied that, as a safe and profitable investment, there could be none better than that_ of station property, especially in this district, so eminently adapted for the growth of wool and the rearing and fattening of sheep, which, on account of the character of the soil and the natural dryness of the climate, is not suited for agriculture ; and, in consequence, will ever remain a pastoral one. It is further very satisfactory to know that a number of people who are connected with station property are desirous of investing in shares in this Company. The success attending similarly existing companies in Otago — the shareholders of which are principally absentees — is well known, and from this it may be conjectured how much more successful such investments must be when the shareholders are resident in the Colony, with Local Directors to superintend and watch over the interests of the Company. From careful inquiries made, the promoters have reason to believe that a station judiciously purchased, and efficiently and economically managed, will yield from 17 to 25 per cent, on capital invested, and the Directors will take especial care that it shall be ably and economically managed : that, though wool may not maintain its present price, it will not fall much in value for years to come ; and, in consequence of the great increase of population now taking place all over the Colony, sheep, instead of decreasing, are certain to increase considerably in value. In the event of the Company purchasing one or more stations, the promoters are of opinion that it would be desirable to pay cash if possible, and thus obviate the necessity of paying interest on bills. By this means the shareholders would receive the full benefit of their outlay.
