The Chronicle urges the formation, at Wanganui, of a Field Naturalist Club similatto that of Dunedin. It thinks that Wanganui is a better place than Dunedin for such a Club, inasmuch as its neighbourhood has not been scientifically examined. The Chronicle also states, as an instance of the discoveries that may be expected at the hands of a Field Naturalist Club, that two Wellington botanists during a recent ramble near Wanganui, found a plant which had never before been noticed or classified, though common enough in that locality. Our contemporary likewise mentions, on the authority of a collector of ferns, that about 100 varieties of these plants are to be found in the district. Wo can assure our Wanganui frianila that if they form a club of the kind referredto, they will meet with the hearty co-opera-tion of the Dunedin Field Natirralist Club, the members of which will be only too glad to compare notes with those of the Wanga* nui Club, and to hew of any discoveries tta latter may jwafce.
