DEPUTIES TO THE SYNOD.

The Rev. Mr Bannebman said there were several deputies from other Colonies with them whom he desired to introduce to the Synod. He had to introduce Dr Cameron, of St. Kilda, as the representative of the Victorian Church. Dr Cameron was a very old friend of his ; and after a lapse of many years, he (Mr Bannerman) was glad to meet him when fulfilling his engagement as deputy from the Synod to the Presbyterian Church of Victoria. He understood that Dr Cameron had expected his commission to arrive by the last mail from Melbourne. That expectation had not been fulfilled, but he (Mr Banner* man) was in a position to certify that he and Mr Balfour, one of the most distinguished laymen in connection with the Victorian Church, were both appointed to represent their Church at the Synod of Otago and Southland. Along with them was the Rev. M'Kenzie Fraser, of Geelong, should he arrive while the Synod was Bitting. He had much pleasure in introducing Dr Cameron, and moving that he be associated as a representative of the Victorian Church the the same as if the commission had arrived. — (Applause.) The Revs. J. Hill and M'Kinnon, deputies from the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, and the Rev. John Paton, New Hebridies Missionary, were also introduced and associated.

Some formal business having been trans* acted, the Synod adjourned until 11 o'clock the following day.
