THE WORLD IS FULL OF BEAUTY. BY GERALD JIASSET. There lives a voice within me, a guest-angel of my hoart ; And ith swept lispings -\viii me till the ttars a-trem-bling- start Up evermore it sprinpeth, like some magic melody, And evermore it singcth this sweet bong of songs to ii)o : This world is full of beauty, as other worlds above -, And, if we did our duty, it might be full of love. 11' faith anil hope and kindness passed, as coin, 'twixt heart and heart. How (liroiifyh the eye's, tear-blindness should the sudden soul upstart ! The droary, dim, and desolate should wear ii sunny bloom, And love should spring: from buried hate like flowers from winter's tomb. This world is full of licauty, as other worlds übovc ; And, if we did our duty,-it might be full of love. With Imih our utierpd langunge, angels might talk with men. And, God-illumined, eartli should see the golden ago again ; The lMirthened Jieart should soar in mirth, like morn's young prophet lark, And misery's last, tear wept on earth quench hell's last cunning ''park. Tlio world is full of beauty, a* other ■worlds above ; And, if we did our duty, it might bo full of love. The lMf-tongnes of the forest, and the flower-lips of the sod, The happy birds that hymn their raptures in the par "of (Joel, The summer wind that bringcth music over land and sea Have each a voice that singcth this sweet song of songs to mo :—: — This world is full of beauty, as other worlds above ; And, if we. did our duty, it might be full of love.
