NEWS OF DR LIVINGSTONE.

(Xnrlh Bt-HNi Dully Mctl. )

The following inteU'estuig particulars regarding Dr Lningstone, are contained in letters received from Dr Kirk by Mis.s Livingstone, daughter of the celebrated traveller, dated Zanzibar, April 30, 1871 : — " I will tell you that by the last news of the Arabs he had gone io a place called Manema, which is on tho other side of Tanganyika Lake ; but this place y<>u will not tinri on any map. At r.iiji hu made friends with sonic Arabs A\ho, I hear. have been very kind To him, and in their company visited Manema, which is about 200 miles -west of the lake, and it the} must have crossed in punts or canoes, or what Aye call dhows. He and his Arab friends got to 3J*mema. and they (the Arabs) made a good business in ivory. I suppose the doc Lor did ivhat he went for, and Avill toll u.s muiw day what he saw* ; but on his way back he got — well, he seems to have been hard up, as I should have said when out of cash and detained forremittances. Luckily the means were at hand, and the man I sent to Cjiji to help him has .sent oft' all he needs, and there Avill still be a good store on his return to T'jiji. The expenses and loss in getting things so far into a savage Land are great, and at a cholera iime it was Avell Aye got anything up at all, so that he will never receive the Avhole of Avhat 1 sent and Mr paid for. A second simply has been forwarded, but I shan't be &oiry if the doctor passes it on the Avay. I should say the parcel of clothing and boots Avas sent oh" long ago."'
