Greymouth, August 31st.
A " monster'" meeting was held at the Ahaura township on Tuesday to protest against the mismanagement of the Southwest Goldfields by the Nelson Government. A resolution was carried unanimously in favour of petitioning the Assembly for redress, and asking the General Government to assume the control of the public expenditure. Great excitement prevails throughout the district. September sth. The agitation condemning the mismanagement of the South-west Goldfields by the Nelson Government, continues. At meetings held at Half Ounce and Granvilles, the petition to the Assembly Avas adopted. 500 new signatures to the petition were obtained in one night.
