The followiag description of Coromandel, by a correspondent of the Lyttelton Times, will bo interesting in connection with the great rush reported to have taken place to that locality. The writer says: — "Should you ever visit this part of the world, I should adviso you to ascend tho Coromandel Banges. (t is a nice little walk or crawl up about 2500 feet by a Maori path, with interlaced roots of trees to serve as ladders, and a greasy yellow wot clay for your footing. You pass through a domo forest, with tho most beautiful ferns, oroepcrs, and undonrood. Birds were ohirping and singing all around us, and tho wholo Bccue was very pioturosqno and Oriental. You then omerge from tho forest, and climb up a small rook or piunaclo of quartz, nnd from this giddy height you havo n view bucli as few havo seen. On your loft, you havo a complete viow of tho grand Co.om»ndol Harbour and {>rctty township. Tho steamur at anchor ooks Hko a -walnut sholl. From yonr feofc down, far down, a steop declivity, is a vast forest of trees to tho edge of tho town* ship.
