THE MARKETS.
Witness Okfiob,
Fbeday Evening.
The advent of finer weather has not caused the coming to hand of * much greater amount of produce ; consequently the town markets still retain their firmness. We, however, note prices as reaching rates at whioh the inducement to operate for shipment ceases, and in consequence a smaller business is likely to be the result. Wheats of good descriptions are quoted at 4s 9d to sa. Barley commands 5s to 5a 4d, the latter rate for prime parcels. Oats have been placed at 2a 8d to 2s 9d, the few parcels for instant delivery enhanoing the value. It is not, however, possible to meet with buyers for any quantity to come forward at over these figures. At the Mills, rates quoted are those of last week, viz -.—Fine flour, LI 2 10s to Ll 3} bran, 80s per ton; oatmeal, Lls 10s ; pearl barley, L 26. The Btocks of provincial potatoes in town are increasing, and quotations scarcely maintained.
