IMPERIAL TROOPS.
The following are the letters relative to the removal of the 18th Regiment from the colony, referred to in a recent telegram from Wellington :—: —
Melbourne, June 17th, 1869.
Sir — In oonformity with the instruction* oontained iv the enolo*od oopy of a letter from the War Office, dated 23rd April, 1869, in reply to my communication of the Ist March, a oopy of which was transmitted to your Exoellency on the 30th of the same month, 1 have now the honour to acquaint you that it is my intention to tako measures, in concert with the senior naval officer, for the removal of the socond battalion 18th Regiment from Now Zealand, according to my " original instructions." With this view orders have been Usued for their immediate concentration at Auokland prior to dittribu* tion amongst the Australian Colonies.— l have, to., J. T. Cairo, Major-General,
