Nelson, September 6th.
The gold news from Auckland i 3 good. The quartz tested in various old and new claims yielded about five ounces to the ton.
One specimen of seven pounds of stone gave six grains of retorted gold.
Nine men at the Mount Pleasant claim obtained over fifteen ounces of gold from thirty pounds of stone.
In the Crown claim, 750 ounces of gold were got for one month's crushing.
The Goldfields are in good condition, and ground allotments are rising in price.
