Arch. Cook, Inverness, a clergymam of the Church of Scotland. These arrangements are, as nearly as possible, the same as in a private family. This object Mr Cook does his utmost to promote. The strictest attention is given to cleanliness, neatness, and gentlemanly deportment. A good moral training forms one of the chief ends of the establishment. The extremes of a too rigid surveillance, or of too much liberty, are carefully avoided. Such constant watchfulness over the character and conduct of the pupils is alwaj s maintained as to check any thing wrong or unseemly ; while so much liberty is allowed as may give scope for the exercise of moral freedom, and the formation of an independeat character. The religions training of the pupils receives the most careful attention ; and their Church attendance is decided by the wishes of the parents. The course of Education comprises— English, Latin, Greek, French, History, Geography, Writing, Mathematics, Arithmetic, Book-keeping, Drawing, Music (vocal and instrumental), and Drill.
