The fin" weath-r continues to have a favorable effect an business, and orders come in more freely. Adelaide flour is now vpry scarce, and Provincial has advanced. Tea has undergone a slight improvement.
The following may be taken as the quotations for leading articles :—: —
Adelaide flour, £25; Provincial, £17 to £17 10s ; in small bags, 10s extra. Tea, duty paid, common, Is 9d ; good medium, 2s 3d to 2s 6d ; superior kinds, 2s 9d to 3s boxes, 32s to 3(55 ; orange pekoe, 2s 9d to 3s 3d
Sugar, duty paid— Whites, £48 to £52; grey crystals £46 to £48 ; yellow do, £45 to £4 ; yellow counter, £42 to £44 ; common yellows, £38 to £40. Spirits (in bond) : Brandies, Martell's or Hennessy's, 8s per gallon.; second brands, {5s 6d to 7s ; Martefl's, in case, 345 ; Hennessy's, do, 355. Whisky, Scotch, 5s Gd per gallon, ; Irish, 6s ; Stewart's do. in case, lls. Rum, 4s 6d to 4s 9d. Geneva, J.D.K.Z., per case, 16b. Old Tom, per case, 14s 6d to 16s 6d. Ale (in bulk), duty paid, £9 10s to £10 ; in bottle, Tennant's, 12s 3d; Jeffreys, Youngers, or Bass's, 12s ; other brands, 6d. less.
Porter, duty paid— Guinness's, Blood's, and Machin's, in glass, ,12s 9d ; Byass's, lls ; Victoria Stores, 9s 6d; other brands, unsaleable.
Aromatic tobacco may be quoted at 2s to 3s ; dark, at Is Od to 2s ; tens' at 1b 6d to 2s 3d ; Barret's twist, 2s 9d. So*p : Liverpool, no demand ; Colonial or Provincial, 3 'S. Butter — Provincial, prime, Is 2d; Wellington or Sydney, Is. Cheese, English, Is 3d ; Colonial, lOd. Hams and Bacon, new cure— Sinclair's md Coey's, Is 2d to Is 4£d, respectively ; other -brands, Id to 2d per lb. less. - Candles— Full weights, Is Id to Is2d; light weights, unsaleable. Kerosene, 3b 6d per gallon', duty pai^ Groceries — Salmon, lib tins, 17s 3d ; oysters, 103 6d ; lobsters, 9s; sardines, halveß, 11s 6cl ; quarters, 73; salad oil, pints, 14s, half-pints, 93 6d ; pickles, 12s to 13s ; bottled fruits, 17s : vinegar, bulk, Us 6d ; bottled, 10s Gd ; mustard, 71b. tins, 10£ d: ilb. do, 7s 9d. Fruits— Dried apples, &<1 ; currants, ssd ; raisins, Eleme, and Cape, 7-id ; Muscatels, lOd to Is.
Confectionary — Keilor's and Wotherspoon's 10id to Is ; Provincial, B£d. Barley, £27 10s.
