A long and exciting debate took place in the House af Commons on the night of the Bth inst., on the Beform Bill, which had been returned from the House of Lords. Amendments had been made in the Upper House, modifying the Lodger, Copyhold, and Household Franchises, allowing the use of voting papers, and conferring the franchise upon undergraduates of universities, all of which were rejected by the House of Commons. But another amendment, providing for the representation of minorities, was agreed to. It is denied that the Danish Government has any intention of entering into negociation with the United States Government for the sale of the Island of St. Thomas. The British Government is about to despatch a large body of troops to Canada, to repel a threatened Fenian invasion from the United States. In the House of Lords last evening, a Bill to abolish Church Rates was rejected by a large majority. Upwards of a hundred miners have been killed by an explosion in Moravia. Napoleon is making extensive preparations for war. No explanation is given. The Reform Bill was returned from the House of Commons to the House of Lords yesterday, when a motion was made to re-consider the action upon the disagreeing amendments. Some debate ensued, when the subject was postponed till the 12th instant. An express train got off the rails at Brayhead, Ireland, yesterday, when in transit from Dublin to Wicklow, and eight passenger-carriages ran down the side of a steep bluff into the sea, causing the immediate death of thirty persons. The ex-Queen of Naples, Marie Sophio Amalil, is dead. In the House of Lords, last evening,' the Government submitted the new Postal Treaty with the United States for reducing the rates of postage between the two countries.
