MARINE BOARD ACT.
Mr BURNS asked the Honorable the Postmaster- General — " The reason why * The Marine Board Act, 1860, 1 has not been put in force, and when it is the in • tention of Government to bring it into operation." It was much to the credit of the late Government that the .Act had been brought in, and he -would be glad to see it brought into operation.
Mr STAFFORD said that the matter had received a great deal of consideration ; but it had been found that if the new Act was brought into operation a great deal of new machinery would have to be created to perform all the duties necessary fnr a Marine Board. The Postmaster-General had, however, recently devised a method of bringing the Act into operation without any additional expense to the Colony.
