Friday, 6th June, 1862.
Dttir.VKEK.N'ESs'. — John Chapmau was Charged by Constable Pilkiugtou with having been drunk "yesterday. The Bench inflicted a fine of 20?-., or, in default, committed him to gaol for a term of 43 hours. Wm. Hughes, charged with a similar offence, was aLo fined a like penalty. This man had been previously convicted on the 27th February, and £)th April.
Stray Horsks. — George Anderson was charged on the inform ition of Constable Forster, with .suffering two hos-ses to stray within the limits of the town boundary. His Worship remarked that the public ought not to be s.o annoyed by cattle and auiruata being permitted to wander abroad to the great damage of private gardens. The Bench fined the defendant ss. for each head.
S. It. \VooDAi,ii v. Hakris.— Action for the recovery of £18. There was no appearance of the defendant. The plaintiff' \\as in court. The Bench gave judgment, m favor of the plaintiff iv the full amount claimed, together with costs. S. 11. Woodail v. Faiioik.— No appearance of the defendant. The case was postponed to Monday next, at eleven o'clock in the forenoon. vSjriTii y. How. — A T o appearance of either party. Case dismissed. iVloshsA. 1 m v. James. — There was noappearanca of either party. Case elisniissed. Moyse v. I)u.\can.— Ca&e dismissed; not coming within the jurisdiction. .DuACAit v. Lamh.— J[r. Prendergast stated that this action arce out of a transaction with the sckooner Catheiine. _ There would be a number of witnesses to be examined on both sides, and the learned geutleman expressed an opinion that justice could not be done to if in the Magistrate's private room. The Uench remanded the case for hearing on Monday next, at eleven o'clock in the forgnoon.
Uowper t. DouaLAS. -No appearance of either party. Case dismissed. The business of this court terminated by 12 noon.
