(Before Major Croker, R.M.) Examination op tub Gang iatkly Captuubd. — John Rusoell alia 3 Spratty, J. Davies and J. Sullivan, were brought up and charged by SergeantMajor Bracken, with having on the night of the Bth inst., assaulted and robbed a miner at Wetheruton's of the sum of £27, Mr. Brackiu asked his Worship to grant a remand until the following day, in order that detective Johnson, who had gone towards the Waipori in , search of thn men who fired at the police, might bo present. - His Worship accordingly granted a remand until the next day. While doing so, Sullivan asked with an air of injured innocence, that "he'd like to know what he was being a-had up for." This man bore the marks of Johnson's life preserver on his countenance, and had made a most violent resistance while being taken into custody. Thomas Hannah alias Kelly, and Richard Hill alias Burgess, who had just been brought In by Sergeants Bracken and Trimbill, were charged with having fired at Trimbill with intent to kill.
