The Steamer " Queen," Captain Wilson, arrived in this Harbour on Sunday afternoon, from Otago and Canterbury. She sailed from Otago on Wednesday, loth September, arrived at Lyttelton the following day, after a quick run of 22 \ hours ; sailed from thence on Saturday last, at 3 o'clock p.m , and made the passage to Wellington in 22 hours, notwithstanding she had to contend with a strong head wind nearly the whole way .—lndependent, Sept. 22. The steamer Queen finally left Wellington yesterday (Oct. 1) for Melbourne with his Honor the Superintendent and the Hon. Postmaster-General ofVictoria, having previously put b.ick twice from, stress of weather. On the last occasion she had got as far as Stephen's Island when she was compelled to bear up in consequence of the heavy gale from the N.W. ,

The last voyage of the " White Swan' 1 from Manukau to Otago and back was accomplished in 23 days, including the usual stoppages at all intermediate Ports.

The Oliver Lang arrived in Wellington on the 18th ult., having left Gravesend on the 18th June. She has brought CO cabin and- 240 steerage passengers, 30 of whom were for Canterbury. The following advertisement appears in the Sydney Herald, of the 26th ult. :~: ~

New Zealand Royal Mail Steam Company.— Preliminary Notice.— -One of the undermentioned new first-class screw steamers is intended shortly to ply monthly between Sydney and Nelson or Auckland, carrying Her Majesty's Mails— Prince Alfred, 800 tons, 200 horse power; Lord Ashley, 500 tons, 100 horse power ; Lord Worsiey, 600 tons 100 horse power; Airedale, 400 tons, 90 horse power. The above steamers have Bplendid accommodations for saloon and intermediate passengers, and are well adapted for carrying horses and cattle. Will discharge and load at Moore's Wharf.
