RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
EXTENDED JURISDICTION SITTINGS. 6th October, 1858. (Before John Gillies, Esq , R.M., and a Jury.) Grey r. Smith. — The plaintiffs, Messrs. George, Edward, and James Grey, of Waihola, settlers, claimed and sought to recover from James Smith, of Tokomairiro, stockholder, the sum of £40, being the value of a bay filly, rising three years old, the property of the said phintiffs, which had come into the possession of the said defendant by finding, and which he, the said defendant, had unlawfully converted to his own use.
Mr. Howorth, Barrister- at -Law, appeared for plaintiffs, and Mr. J. B, Gillies, Solicitor, appeared for defendant.
The case occupied the whole of the day, until 7 o'clock, when the Jury returned a verdict for defendant, which the presiding Magistrate ruled to carry costs.
