OTAGO SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION.

A Special General Meeting of this Association was held at the School-Room, Dunedin, on the 15th instant. James Macandrew, Esq., in the Chair. The minutes of former meeting were read and confirmed. The minutes of Commitee meetings were read and approved of. The report of the proceedings of the deputations appointed to visit the suburban and rural districts was read and approved of. The substance of the report has already appeared in the " Otago Witness." The thanks of the Society were voted to the varions deputations. An Address to the Electors was read and approved of. It was resolved that it be printed, and a copy sent to every elector. A letter addressed to the Committee from Mr. Harris, in reference to the proceedings of ■ th* Committee and deputations, was laid before the meeting by the Committee; and it was resolved that the Secretary be directed simply to acknowledge the receipt of the letter. It was resolved that a general meeting of the Association, to arrange the nomination" of the candidates for the General Assembly and Provincial Council, at which all electors be invited to attend, be called. The time of calling such meeting to be left to the Committee. It was suggested that it would b,e advisable for persons intending to nominate candidates to come prepared with an explanation of the political opinions of such persons.
