The American Medical Association Journal says doctors Robert Hingson :and Waldo Edwards, of the United States public health service hospital at ■ Staten Island, have reported a new method of providing painless and safer childbirth. Tho method was tested in 589 cases involving 556 live births with no maternal complications or deaths. The method consists of a continuous injection of a solution of metycaine into the lower tip of the spine and is called continuous caudal analgesia.
