DROWNED IN TROUGH.
HOW MAN GOT THERE NOT FULLY EXPLAINED DANNEVIRKE, March 2S. A verdict of deatli from drowning was returned at the inquest into the death of Albert George Talbut, aged 61, of l’etone, who was found dead in a watertrough on a Terehunga farm. There was no evidence to show how deceased got into the trough, which was 32 inches wide and 16 inches deeji. The body was found lying across the edge, with the feet almost on the ground. It was leaning slightly to the left and the face was just under water. It looked as if deceased was sitting on the edge of the trough and had fallen back and gradually slipped down until the head and portion of the back was in the trough. A doctor said it was possible that deceased fell and struck his head, being rendered unconscious, and was drowned while in that state. The position was an unlikely and difficult one in which a man would drown himself.
