Miss Eleanor Montgomery, whose body was found near Christchurch on Sunday, was formerly on the staff of the Archerfield College, Dunedin, and had held important posts in several parts of the Empire. She ' was a sister of Mr. Leslie Alexander Montgomery, the noted Irish humorist, who, under the pen-name Lynn Doyle, has written many plays and novels.

Mr. and Mrs. A. D. "Webster, with their little daughter, Marjory, and sons, I'uroa' and Kobe, also the Weller Bros., will leave by the Wanganella to-mor-row for Sydney. Mr. Webster will take eight horses: —Bayacre, The Mirror, Huntique, Hunt the Slipper, Movie Star, the rising three-year-old black iilly by Lord Quex from Wedded, and the rising two-year-old bay or brown colt by Paper Money—Piquant.

The death took place at Foxton on Thursday morning of a well-known Maori in the person of Taroa Ngapukapuka, aged 74 years. Deceased had been bed-ridden for some time. Mr. Richie Abraham, who was found dead near Glenburn station, Hinakura, on Saturday evening, was well known throughout the Mauawatu district as an auctioneer for the firm of Abraham and Williams. Ho resided at Palmerston North but was on a visit to his sister, Mrs. Hewitt, wife of Mr. J. ED. Hewitt, manager of Glenburn Station. He went, for a ride on Saturday afternoon and when he did not roturn for dinner about 6 p.m. a search was instigated and he was found dead beside his horse. An inquest was opened at Glenburn on Monday by the District Coroner, Mr. E. G. Eton, when the evidence pointed to death being due to heart failure. It was stated that deceased had been receiving medical attention in Palmerston North.
