OTAKI ACTIVITIES. Continuing his campaign in the Otaki constituency-, Mr. James Thorn, the official Labour candidate, addressed a J public meeting at Stokes Valley on ! Saturday, March 14-tli. I Mr. Hawthorn was in the chair and a good meeting carried a hearty vote of thanks to the candidate who devote 1 most of his speech to the economical situation and to Government’s wagecutting decision. ■On Thursday evening following Mr. Thorn spoke in Levin, Mr. J. H. Taylor presiding over a most sympathetic audience, which contained a fair leavening of poultry and dairy farmers. At the conclusion of the public meeting a goodly number remained behind to reconstitute the Levin branch of the Labour Party and future activities in the district were arranged. The Labour Party branch at Turn Flat which now numbers 25 members initiated a series of euchre parties on Thursday evening with a very good attendance. A dance which is to captivate the. district is to be held in a few weeks. The Paremata Branch is busying itself in an effort to form a branch at Piimmorton where contact lias been made with a fair number of supporters. At .Tolinsonville the branch dances ir. the Assembly Hall have been recommenced. The membership of this branch is rapidly , increasing.—The Worker.
