RELIEF WORK CEASES AT BUCKLEY.
eOWING TO FINANCIAL REASONS. The Buckley Drainage Board has found it necessary, owing to financial reasons, to cease the work of banking the Koputaroa stream, with the result that fifty men are thrown out of work, it is hoped that satisfactory financial arrangements will be made that will permit of the men commencing work aguin in tiie course of a <i;iy of two. The foreman has reported that :<!! the clearing lias been completed and, SO chains of banks finished, Hi chains nearly completed, ail this work being done with shovels. Three culverts have been put in and the other two are well on the way. The tram lint- is completed.. The rails forwarded were all rejects, practically everyone having tin /be straightened and ail sleeper.-. had to be cut on the job.
