DROWNING FATALITY AT FOXTON
TWO EX-OTAKI-ITES LOSE THEIR LIVES. While eel-fishing yesterday at Foxton on a lake on the property of Mr Robinson. Messrs Skip and Peter Baker, sons of Mrs Martin Baker, of Otaki, lost their lives through the boat they were in becoming swamped. They had with them a lad named tlupwell, but when the boat capsized Skip Baker took Ihe lad to safety. On lookinground he saw his brother in difficulties. He made an attempt to save lam and in doing so was drowned, while Peter also went under. .Bolh the young men. aged 24 and 22 years respectively were for many years residents of Otaki. Both are married, and much sympathy is expressed for the bereaved relatives. !>o far the bodies have not been recovered. Mr Skip Baker, who is a well-known singer, recently performed at Otaki, and was with the Pioneer Company when it - was on tour.
