Mr G. H. Harper, of Otaki, is on a .tort visit to Christchurch.

Mrs Hughes, wife of Mr \Y. Hughes, recently manager of the Bank of Australasia in Levin, and formerly of Palmerston, died in Temuka on Monday. Mrs Hughes was held in the highest esteem ill Levin and district, where she was an energetic church worker and a most acceptable concert singer. Her death m the prime of life is greatly regretted. She leaves a husband and three young children.

Mr “Bob” Lee met with a nasty accident at the Otaki Kailway station yesterday morning. While on the railway platform he either became dizzy or tainted, falling and striking his face heavily on the asphalt. He suffered some severe cuts on the face, and bled profusely. Mr G. O’Kourko kindly motored the injured muu to the hospital, lus wounds were attended to, and some stitches put 111. The injuries were not serious, but painful, ami Mr Leo was weak from loss of blood.

The sudden death, occurred at the residence of his daughter, Mrs .1. Stevenson, Central Development Farm, on Sunday night, of Mr .Tames Walker, a former resident of Wynd ham. Southland, who for (lie last four months has been on a visit to his daughter and son-in law. On Sunday he appeared to be in his usual health, and was in good spirits when he retired to bed. but. on not making his appearance at the usual hour next morning, investigation was made, and he was found dead in bed.
