CLEARING SALE. j.he N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:— On Monday we held a clearing sale of live and dead stock on account of Mr A. P. Berry, of Waikanae, a large attendance of buyers being present. The cows were in low condition, but sold freely at prices ranging from £l-1 to £lB 10s; cow and calf £0", small heifers r.w.b. £O, weaner heifers £2 10s, fat sheep 30s to £2 17s, aged light harness horse £'J JOs, weaner pigs 31s. Furniture and sundries brought good market values. Dairy cows sold on account of other vendors at prices £l4 10s to £2O. -v ADDINGTON MARKET. CSrlstcburch, August 20. At the Addington market the yardings of stock were not very large in any department. except in fat 'sheep and store cattle, the latter showing a considerable increase over the sales for weeks past. .S|oro sheep, especially ewes and ewe hoggets, sold at an adV3H6D on late sales. Fat sheep, of course, were not up to the sales of a fortnight ago, but sold at an advance on prices ruling on July 30th. The j quality of the yarding was, however, very moderate on the whole, a considerable proportion being unfinished. There , was a further advance in the price of fat cattle, the proportion of really j prime being small. There was only i limited demands for store cattle, and few sales were made at auction, but | some business was done privately in wether classes. Good drying cows sold well, and there was a keen demand for the few vealers penned. I'igs of all classes sold well.

Fat Sheep.—Prime wethers 50s to 00s. medium wethers 3Ss to -19 s lid. unfinished wethers 31s 3d to 37s Od. extra prime ewes to 535. prime ewes '3Ss to -15 s. medium ewe? 30s to 37s Od, tinfinished ewes 23s Od to 295, hoggets 23s 9d to 38s. Extru prime steers to £32 15s. prime steers £22 to £27 2s 6d, ordinary steers £lO IDs to £2l 10s. prime heifers £ll to £lli 7s Od. ordinary heifers £9 10s to £ll 10s, extra prime cows £ls to £IS 15s. ordinary cows £S 10s to £l-1 10s. Store Cattle. —Three-year steers to £9 lis. 2-year steers £4 12s (id to £7 15s. 2-year heifers to £7, dry cows £4 12s (id to £7 15s. dairy cows £S to £l7 l!ts.
