The new Cathedral will be erected as a Thankoffering to God, and as a Memorial of New Zealand's part in the great war. The names of all New Zealand soldiers who have fallen in the war will be inscribed in letters of gold on the marble walls of the Military Memorial Chapel (the west wing of the Cathedral).
