A full discussion on the purchase of ' a plant took place, prices for all sizes -; from 40 gallons to 250 gallons from different firms being submitted. • Mem- ' bers were of the opinion it would be disirablo to own a plant, but ; as the main job was recommended to be' lv ' by contract, the purchase: should be deferred. Mr Fraser moved, Mr Chandler seconding, "That the Board call tenders for the sealing contract of Sthe Main Highway from Grieves , to v Rochdale Street and from the, Bridge to the Yellow Ifluff road. An alternative clause to be inserted that the work be dpne with or without the use !of a steam road roller at the Board's 7 option. The purchase of a pjant to be deferred meantime. The Chairman said a meeting would be called shortly. \ The Secretary, Southland League, acknowledged receipt., of letter re Manapouri access road and they were obtaining further particulars.—Received.
