according- to the newspapers of the time. There were lOlbs of the steak which was shipped scores of miles to Circle City. When the owner of the precious bit of meat reached the camp the miners turnecl out m a body to s-ee it. It was placed on exhibition, and attracted as much attention as an elephant. Everyone wantH n piece of it, and the- prices offered were such as wquld have resulted m a mining. camp quarrel if it had not been decided to raffle the steak for the benefit of an hospital which Bishop Rowe was trying to establish lor, the minera at Circle City. Bidg were asked at' odol. (£1) pound;* and rose briskly to 33 dol. {£7). Finally, m order to avoid complications, it was decided to sell tickets at pripes .fvom 50 cents (2 -) to S.SUdpk (10/0 fur the jnivUegre of drawing for a slice. After 48dol.
