Perusal of the special prize list for tbe Southland Show reveals that the exhibitors will have some very valu able trophies to compete for. In the shr.ep classes two of the most valu Hble trophies, the .Gat>'tferook Oup and ( tbe Co-op. Cup, presented by the Trustees of the late T. L. Barnbill, aiid the Southland Farmers' Cj-op. association lor fiomney ram and ewe hoggets will not be competed for this year, owing to the conditions requiring the sheep to be shown m woo!, [jvhereas the sheep tkis year will aU be shorn. QuibeU's Cup, valued at. 25 guineas, for most points m any one section of ppirebred she p, will again be competel for. It* has been won three times, the winners to date being : Mr T. 6, Little, the late JD. M. ?-uik?rland (twice), Mr John McKerchar (twice), and BarohiU's Trustees In the frozen meat classes, the lion. A. F. Hawke, M.L.C., is oii iog a gold watch valued at £20 to* tho exhibitor gaining most points. This has also to be won three times and has already been won by Messrs James Ryan, W. Kennedy (twice), and Henderson Bro3. In the cattle section there are several valuable prizes which will be competed for for the first time.. Mr Donald Macdonald, Edendale, i* giving a cup va tied afc £i» 15s for moat points m the dairying section, aud Mrs and Miss Ailutuson, of Castlerock, plate valued at £21 for most points m purebrel cattle. The Waitaki Dairy Co., Ltd., have given a cup valued at £20 for,, any breed bred from the be3t butter fat records, and, m the opinion of the judge, most likely to improve the breed of dairy cattle. There are also two valuable prizes m the Friesian section presented by Mr Norman Leigh ton, and by the Otago and Southland Friesian breeders:
