Scotts Gap School.

■ ■' . ♦ On Frilay evening last, the Scotts Gap annnal school ooncert and dance was held m the hall. The woather was favourable, and a go id crowd issembled. The programme was a very attractive one, especially the numbers rendered by the sohoo children. M.ss McKty, the loca 1 teaoher, although only a sli r urne at the Gap, has doae Wjiiiurs m bringing on the children, and has sucoeeded m discovering talent where none was ever supposed to exist. The accompaniments were played bj Miss McKay. , The chair was occupied by M* 3, Childs, chairman of the sohooi committee, who fulfilled his duties m bis usual able and spirited style, and kept things going merrily from be - ginning to end. The programme included a fan drill by the junior pupils, the little mites fairly bringing down the house ; a skirt dance by lon a Salton ; a reel by Jane Kennedy, Gra^e Aitken and Vera McKay ; cantata, en i led " Hoot and the Fairies," by the school children, this item being especially well rendered, and proved quite a surprise to the folks of 'the Gap; a aong, " 1 don't want to play m your yard," by two tiny tots, May Childs and Florrie Aitken, was the gem of' the evening, and . the way the two mites etcod up to each othei and fought it out was a treat to see and hear. The attendance prizes were necured by Vera McKay and Grace Aitken (girls), and Archie Pateraon (boys), dewing, senior, Isa Kennedy ; j unior, Alice Aitken. During the evening, the chairmin," on behalf of the pupils, presented ihe late pupil teacher, Miss Rancp, with a hands nne trinket box ani hairpin box.'^l'fce presentation- was responded to on behalf of Miss Ran:e by Mr W. Aitken. During the second part of the concert, Misi Doreen McClatchy m a Highland fling and a clog dance fairly excel cd. She also rendered a coupte ot songs m first-class style. Mr W.
