STATUTORY MEETING.
The annual meeting of the Wallace County Council was held in the Council Chambers at Otautau on Wednesday, the following councillors being present: — Crs. P. J. Linscott, Jno. Horrell, Jno. Findlay, D. Clark, F. J. Dyer, W. J. A. McGregor, T. Flynn, L. Cody, and T. A. Buckingham. In accordance with tlie requirements of the Act, the Clerk (Mr Jas. Fullarton) occupied the chair, and called for nominations for chairman, for tho ensuing term of twelve months. Cr. Dyer moved that Cr F. J. Llnßcott be appointed chairman. He considered that Cr. Linscott, who had now had a fair experience of county work, would make an excellent man for the position. Cr. Flynn seconded the motion, and this being the only nomination, Cr. Linscott was declared unanimously elected chairman. In returning thanks, Cr. Linscott said that he felt highly honoured at being elected as chairman of the Wallace County Council, and he would do his, best to carry out the duties attendant on the office. — (Applause.)
