The monthly meeting was attended by all the members except Mr Parmenter, who is laid aside as r result of the recent coach accident on Fen ham Hill. ORCHESTRAL BAND. An application was received fronr Mr J. li. Kirk, on behalf of several members of the defunct Brass Band, for the use of several instruments to be used m an orchestra being formed under the leadership of Mrs T. H. Cupples. — The request was granted. TRAMWAY LOCOMOTIVE. Messrs Bird Bros asked for permission to run a locomotive on their tramway within the township. — Members, while expressing themselves favourable to granting the request, decided to get the! Board's solicitors advice as to the Board's responsibility for damages or accidents. The clerk was directed accordingly. STEVENSON'S PICTURES. W. Stevenson asked for a renewal of his contract for use of hall for another A*ear.— Granted subject to an increase of rent. BUILDIXt; PERMIT. This was granted to D. Sinclair for erection of premises for National Bank of N.Z. CLITHEROE STREET. No tenders having been received for work on this street.it wa? decided that the Board's surfaceman carry out the work. PAINTING HALL. The clerk was directed to obtain particulars of waterproof painting for brickwork, and if satisfactory to get the .work done. MOTOR HOC'S. ' Attention was directed to the excessive speed at whioh cars aud motor cycles were being driven through tho town streets,; and it was decided to erect a notice board at each end of Main street to reduce speed to 8 miles an hour. BIRD AND SWHAN'S DRAINAGE. The clerk was directed to obtain the solicitor's advice as to what steps the Board should npw take towards this drainage m view of the "conflicting nature of the Magistrate's decision m the recent test cases. SPECIAL MEETING. It was decided to hold a special meeting on Monday, 19th inst., to consider Weekly Half-Holiday, Dog Registration and Drainage. Accounts amounting to. £81 16s 7d were passed for payment.
