WESTERN DISTRICT SUB-UNION.

A meeting of the Western District SubUnion was held at Otautau on Friday evening, six members being present, m the absence of Mr F. O. Mills, Mr Liddell being voted to the chair.

The minutes of the previous mseting were read and confirmed,

Small, a Biverton player, who was reported for using bad language m disparage- i ment of Western District referees during the i half-time interval of the Otautau-Riverton < senior game, wrote that "he did not think i there waa an explanation required, as any re- i marks he had passed W6re not of a disparaging nature, and he thought the report had been exaggerated.'' — Mr Gow said m his i opinion the reply was not satisfactory, and < he moved that Small be disqualified for two t matches. Mr Traill considered such a sent- j ence was too severe, and that a caution i would ipeet the case. At the same time he < admitted that this player was noted for such 1 remarks on the field. — Eventually it was de- J cided that Small should appear before the Union at its next meeting. PBOTBBXS. Both Biverton and Otautau Clubs wrote claiming the junior match between the seoond fifteen of these clubs, played at Otautau, Biverton on the ground that Otautau had played a Senior player (no name stated), and Otautau on the grouuds that Biverton ] had played P. J. O'Brien, who had played as j a representative player and was consequently < ineligible to play for juniors until ro-graded. ' — Thero was considerable discussion on this matter, but as there was nothing m tlie mm- : utes to show, as contended by s^me members, < that Wade had to si&nd down for one match, Mr Traill moved and Mr Oowie < seconded that the matter be held over for a : fuller meeting. Mr Gow moved as an ' amendment, and Mr B. Mills seconded, that the matter be dealt with immediately. — On the casting vote of the chairman the motion was carried [The minutes as previously read were confirmed]. Otautau F. 0. wrote protesting against Biverton 111 playing a number of seoond grade players, many of whom were also over the age limit, and claiming the match on these grounds.— On the motion of Messrs Mills and Liddell the letter was referred baok to Otautau Olub to give fuller particulars, no names being supplied. The Eastern District Sub- Union wrote suggesting 23rd inst for the representative match between Eastern and Western. — Moved by Mr Oowie and seconded by Mr Gow that the date be agreed to, and that the matoh be match be played at Otautau, all matches arranged for that day to be played at the end of the season on 20th August. Mr Traill moved, and Mr Mills seconded, that the match be played at Biverton. — The ' motion was carried by 3 votes to 2. MATOH WITH SOUTH OAKTERBT. BT.
