Birchwood Road.

At the county meeting on Friday Mr W. A. Rodger submitted the following as the conditions to which he was to the road going through his property :— (1) The sum of £50 to, be paid for land taken ; (2) That a stock bridge be erected over the Birch wood creek, the material for which he was ,r prepared to cart either from Nightcaps r■" or Wauio railway Btatjon free of oharge, or he was prepared to erect suoh bridge, finding all material and labour, fbr tbe sum of £85; (3) That he be paid by We council at the rate of 10s 6d per chain for the fences on the roadline through the sections above noted; (4) 'That the short road line to Scott's Gap be closed ; (5) That m consideration of the present track through my property, known as the clover paddock, being left open for traffic till the new road is made passable, tbe council will put m proper repair all the cnlverts crossing such track when such traffic ceases ; (6) It to be understood that the council will proceed with the new road so as to ' make it passable with all reasonable despatch. The chairman said that by some misunderstanding the engineer and Mr King had not been m attendance with him at the interview with Mr Rodger, who, however, he felt satisfied, *was not actuated one way or the other by the absence or would be influenced by the whole of the councilor King said he had hung off going several times which had not y b^en suitable for the chairman, rn-i when the chairman had gr-un it .was an im possibility for him to go.
