HOUSING LOAN FIGURE

Rehabilitation Loans worth £59,657,780 had been authorised for 74,015 ex-servicemen and women by the end of January. For the two-month period Dec-ember-January 2186 loans were authorised valued at £1,552,267Loans have been for farms, businesses, houses, furniture, tools of trade and other nuscelianeoas purposes.

Loans to purchase' farms were increased from 5438 to 5535, which involved finance worth £22,022,540. This includes 750 ex-servicemen settled on Crown Lands l . The end of January saw housing’ loans brought to a total of 24,519 wotrtli £28,945,294. There were TlO for DecemberJanuary, valued at £848,490. There have'been 10,363 building loans authorised, worth £l4, 830,493 and 14,156 purchase loans worth £14,114,801. The 336 building loans for Decemb-er-January were valued at £482,924 and the 374 purchase loans for the same period entailed £365,566. Included in the totjd figures to date are 13,723 supplementary loans involving £2,067,932. These supplementary loans’ are intended to bridge the gap between pre-war prices and present-day costs.
