VISITORS AT BEACH
OLD PEOPLE'S HOME
EARLY DISTRICT RESIDENT
Guests of Mrs. A. D. Cargo at the Beach Pavilion, Opiv ake, yesterday were 19 elderly folk and five nurses from the Rangimarie Old People's Home, "Westown, New Plymouth. The party were fully entertained by Mr. and Mrs- Cargo and in ideal weather spent a thoroughly pleasant time on the beach. Mr. J- G. Rutherford who thanked the hosts, was manager of a flaxmill in Opunake over 50 years ago and he recalled many interesting and humorous episodes of activities in Opunake in tlie early days, and spoke familiarly of some of the district's well-jknown early pioneers. Mr. Rutherford also expressed the hope that a further visit might be arranged and that he might be able to meet some of the older identities. Mr. Rutherford is a brother of the late Lord Rutherford-
