RECORD ENTRIES

OUTSTANDING SUCCESS

Record entries, in most classes, exceptionally beautiful blooms as a result of the recent vei v favourable weather, and an mpreased' attendance made this years Methodist Spring- Flower Show an outstanding success 'from every angle, the net proceeds which are expected |o be in the vicinity of i-250, being considerably more than lasr, year’s fine effort. Throughout Wednesday a (successful trial from previous shout held on Mondays); large crowds visited the Drill Hall and this important social event was again very successful through the direct efforts qf the ladies’ guild \xnd a very capable and willing band of helpers. V The blooms apart from urn record entries were of a particularly high quality, .which drew iinei-praise, from the judges. This applied, equally to most sections and -particularly to the children’s work; All stalls were packed with articles, goods and ot all descriptions and did a very brisk business right into the evening. The concert in the evening also drew a packed house, and Mr. and Mrs. A. IST. McGaughey and all artists are to he congratulated on the fine programme. (A full report wili appear next issue).

Sweet Stall: Mesdames S. Humphrey, Siddells and Morgan md Miss" Reid. Produce Stall : Mesdames Shields and Kitchiu-gman and Miss Pettigrew. Cake Stall: Mesdames Wright, Amon and McKenzie. • Sewing Stall: Mesdames Sinclair, Richards, Fawcett, Hughson and Miss Hurst. Shrubs: Misses Hurst, Messrs. G. Hughson and 11. Dew assisted the secretary, the Rev. C. P. Lucas, and thev were also helped bv R. Otene, M. Siddells, A. Hughson and D. Holmes- Doorkeepers were Messrs, C* E. Warner, J. C. Tilley and J. J. Chapman.
