TARANAK! REP. MATCH AGAINST MANAWATU With the approach of the main trials for the selection of the AU Blacks for the 1948 tour of South Africa, tremendous interest is being displayed in all major representative fixtures this season, particularly in Taranaki as a result of the fine performances this year of the comparatively youthful Taranaki representative team. The match between Taranaki and Manawatu tomorrow, at the Stratford Domain, will provide supporters with the lasi opportunity to- see faranaid trial nominees in action in the province and a record crowd certain. TARANAKI JUNIOR FINAL PIHAMA v. TARIKI There is no doubt that many district rugby supporters will stop at Kaponga on their way lo Stratford for the Taranaki representative game, in order to encouage the Pihama Juniors in their bid for Taranaki honours against the champion northern team, Tariki. The interest in Junior rugby has almost equalled that shown towards senior matches during the season, a tribute to the high standard of rugby played in this grade, and the final tomorrow _ should he an outstanding attraction. Although the Southern fixtures ceased earlier than in the north, PiHama has remained in strict training and Rugby supporters feel confident that the team will emulate the performance of Pungarehu last year, by again winning the Taranaki Junior Championship. INTER-SCHOOL SPORT Football and basketball teams from Kapouga played combined teams from Awatuna, Makaka, Tc Kiri, Riverlea and Waiteika Road, at Awatuna. Results were: — Football, Combined A 11 v.
