KINA ROAD BUILDING

CHILDREN FOR OPUNAKE

Mr. R. M. Foggin, secretary the Taranaki Education Board met memhe:s of the. Opunake School Committee at Opunake on Saturday, and advised that the Kina Road School would be closed from today and, commencing iu the new term, the children would be attending the Opunake School.

At a meeting of Kina Road Settlers on Monday evening it was decided that the school building would not be claimed foi community use, and the Opunake school Committee is making representations to the Board for its transfer to Opunake for .use as an infant Lunch Room. At a meeting of the Taranaki Education Board on Wednesday It was stated that last February the board agreed to tlie request of the. Kina Road School Committee for consolidation.on either the Oaonui or the Opunaxe school, preferably on Oaonui. In April,-the architect, Mr. M. G B. Harvey, reported that the Oaonui school was fairly old outmoded, and sub-standard i» several respects. Other factors entered into the situation, and after further and more recent discussion the committee deckled that itg school should he consolidated on Opunake.
