WEEK-END BOWLING

OFFS Cl A L CLOSING DAY TWO COMPETITIONS Two competitions were played at the Opunake Green over the week-end, the Open Cucumber Stakes on Saturday and the Honey Competition on Sunday. Good bowling- was witnessed in both series, the Cucumber Stakes drawing good entries with representatives from several Taranaki Clubs. Five rounds of 8 ends were played in this series, Bocock’s rink (Kaponga) being the winners with 5 wins. Billing (Waitara) and Clarke (Rahotu) tied for second with 4 wins, and in the olay-off Billing won 5-2. The honey competition, 3 games of 8 heads was won by -I. Moron’s Rink with 3 wins, Baylis being next with 24 wins. The Presdent, Mr. A. C. Hickey, in declaring the green closed in the afternoon, congratulated the officials on the successful season just completed and thanked bowlers and all who had assisted the club during the year. Mr. Hickey also advised members that the green would be levelled, rtesown with grass and topdressed, the work to commence next Saturday, and all members available were asked to attend. He also thanked Mr. Leatherbarrow for his donation of honey for the afternoon’s tournament. Open Cucumber Stakes Results of the Cucumber Stakes were as follows: Ht.
