LETTERS FROM ENGLAND Mrs. W. H. Butler presided over tlie monthly meeting of the Rahotu Branch of the Women’s Division. There was a good attendance of members. Many letters were read from Dover, Coventry and Swansea, returning thanks for food parcels. A donation of £5 was made to the Auckland Rest Home building -bind and £2 to the Young Farmers’ Club memorial fund. A report of the recent flower show was read, showing a very successful day, resulting in a profit of about £23. Mrs. R. Morgan judged the competitions which resulted as follows:—Plum jam, Mrs. H. Gilhooly 1, Mrs. A. T. Field 2. Worked table centre, Mrs. W, Kirkwood 1 and 2. Marigold, Mrs. A. Haskell 1, Mrs. L. Billing 2. The travelling prize was won bv Mrs. F. Lowry. Mesdames H. Gilhooly, G. Watt and W. Kirkwood were hostesses. Basketball Dance A large crowd attended a dance in the Rahotu Hall held by the Rahotu Basketball Glut) after the Rugby football match between Rahotu and Patea for the Quickenden Cup. A presentation was made on behalf of the Rahotu Rugby Football Club to the retiring secretary, Mr. R. Raynor, who will be leaving the district shortly. Mr. G. -Butler spoke for the club. Mr. T. Dixon was M.C. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss N. Morrow and partner. Mrs. G. Riordan and Miss S. Henderson were in charge of supper arrangements. Card prizewinners were: Women, Mrs. W. Butler and Mrs._ >F. Lowry equal 1; men, Mr. L. Billing 1, Mr. H. Cochrane 2. COASTAL BOXING . ASSOCIATION MEETS A successful year was disclosed by the report presented at the annual meeting of the Coastal Boxing Association on Saturday night by the president, Mr. Richie Fleming. The balance sheet showed a credit of £S2, even though half the proceeds from tournaments had been given to the Rugby ' carnival funds. With 10 members in training, it was stated, prospects for the season were bright. Officers elected were: President, Mr. Richie Fleming; secretary, Mr. A. Gilhooly; executive and match committee, Messrs. E. Morrow, H. Gilhooly, J. McDavitt, R.Gray, T. Gilhooly; Auditor, Mr. H. Pennington; delegates to Taranaki Boxing Council, Messrs. Fleming and A. Gilhooly; delegate to New Plymouth Boxing Association, Mr. A. Gilhooly; trainers, Messrs. J. McDavitt, M. Antill and S. Ea~ hui.
