Tribute to Children, Mir. I). M. Jillett speaking at the public Farewell to Eev. and Mia. E. • E. Fordyce and family which was held on Tuesday eyeniug, in expressing keen appreciation of Mr. Fordvoe’s work in the interests of children said: “There is a very high standard of moral fibre in the young children of today. Shs'sp Drowned. One hundred sheep from a flock being driven from Putaruru to 'Cambridge were drowned recently in (he Karapiro Lake. The sheep were thirsty, and when they approached the lake a number of the 1(100 sheep in the flock made for (lie water. On the slope to the lake level the leaders were pushed forward by those behind. It is estimated that 350 fell into the lake. Many animals were rescued by the crew of a Public Works Department launch and passing truck drivers.
