Mr. and Mrs. C. Ashworth and Mrs. K. Mourie are among local residents who are at present camping- at the beach. Visiting campers at the Opunake Beach camping grounds are Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Evans and Family -(Wellington); Mr. 11. 11. Bates and son (Wanganui) and Mr. and Mrs. G. Tecofsky and Family (Hawera). Mrs. R. McCulhvm, Tasman Street, was entertained at a surprise evening on Friday, when a number of friends gathered at her home shortly after 8.30 p.m. Singing and musical items contributed to a very pleasant ingA number of friends gathered at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. H. Frost, Tasman Street, on Saturday evening to celebrate the engagement of their son, Lawrence to Miss Jean Munro, of Melbourne, Australia. The youngcouple left yesterday after spending the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Frost.
