OPUNAKE W.D.F.F.

OCTOBER MEETING SUCCESSFUL CORSO MART The Opunake W.D.F.F. meeting was held last Monday. In the absence of the President (Mrs. Julian) the Chair was taken by Mrs. T. Mulligan. A vote of sympathy was passed to the President and to the relatives of the late Mrs. D. Holmes. The secretary reported that the Shop Day for Corso Funds had realised £23-10/-. A donation of £2-2/- to the Leper Fund was acknowledged by Mr. Twomey. The monthly parcel of food for Britain had been sent in September, and arrangements were made for the October parcel. A letter of thanks was received from a resident of Lossiemouth, Scotland, expressing warm appreciation for a parcel received from the Opunake W.D.F.F. It was agreed that Opunake W.D.F.F. would join up with the Pan-Pacific Women’s Association, A talk on a recent holiday spent in America was given by Mrs. J- P. O’Sullivan,^ to whom a vote of thanks was given by acclamation. Competition results were: Best Tulip: Mrs. Allan Ist., Miss Hurst 2nd., Mrs. A, Campbell 3rd. Best Bloom: Mrs. A. Campbell Ist., Mrs. Julian 2nd., Mrs. Cathie 3rd. Best Shrub: Miss Hurst Ist., Mrs. Petty and Mrs. Allan 2nd., Mrs. Cathie and Mrs. Tosland 3rd. Best Plate for Afternoon Tea: Miss Trolove.
