RAHOTU IN LEAD open akm Third Rahotu’s candidate Miss Dawn Come has taken the lead in the Coastal sub-carnival effort, with Miss Alison Mead, Waimate, in second place and Miss Velina Hickey next. Okato has not scut iv turns for some time. The figures-, however, suggest a cer taii\ amount of “shuffling,(all for the interest of the carnival, of couvse) as Opunake has not added to last weeks total, while Okato ihe early leader may possibly bo the “dark horse.” The district voting will be made known today. Miss Hickey , held pride of place for Coastal last week with over 50,000 votes. If Coastal still hold top position Miss Conic will become the ruling Queen for the week unless of course, Okato’s figures are handed in direct to ' New Plymouth and exceed Rahotu’s total. In this case Miss Margaret Fox would hold the coveted position.

“INSANITY FAIR”

FINE PROGRAMME A particularly fine programme, specially prepared to ensure the outstanding success of the “Insanity Eair” dance on Monday, has been arranged and includes many new and humorous novelties. It is anticipated that one of the biggest crowds seen for some time will be in costume on the night and the humour and fun to be enjoyed by all fortunate enough to attend will _ act as a “tonic” relaxation from everyday cares and worries, A prize is also offered for the most humorous nome-de-plume and an entry tear-slip is inserted beneath the advertisement in this issue. Come in costume if you possibly can, but you will have tons of fun however dressed. Tomorrow night a house party, also in aid of Miss Hickey’s effort, will be held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. I. Elgar, King Street,
